Philodendron Rojo Congo with Porcelain Vessel

$250.00

The CeramicEden collection is a modern, unadorned, installation project pairing hand thrown porcelain and earthenware pots with plants. Laura Straus’ studio is located in the sunny corner of Piermont Straus Gallery.

Philodendron ‘Rojo Congo' is a large plant with thick, shiny, smooth-edged leaves. Its new foliage is brown to coppery red, maturing to dark green with a reddish blush, but the fleshy leaf stems remain bright red. It is fast growing and can reach about 3 x 3 m in size.

There are many different species of philodendron. While they grow quite large in the wild, hybrids have been developed that are more compact and perfect for the home. They add the feeling of the jungle to any space they inhabit, and can enhance any collection of houseplants.

Philodendrons enjoy medium to bright indirect light. Allow the top of the soil to dry between watering, never over-saturating the soil nor allowing it to dry too completely. Fertilize monthly in the spring and summer and every six to eight weeks the rest of the year.

This gorgeous specimen measures roughly 35" h x 47" w and is planted in a one of a kind hand built porcelain vessel.
