Exhibition on view through March 22, 2015.
Sara is a Persian representational painter. Drawing and painting are her language, images of couples are her recent obsession, and the quest for plasticity and visual rhythm is her reason to paint. She is going back to the cave paintings, confronting life, painting it. Her sketches on the subway journey every morning from Brooklyn to the New York Studio School began to concentrate on couples, leading to poppy oil drawings on gesso board, paintings, and eventually her recent paper sculptures. The touch of paper in these sculptures and the stroke of brush and oil paint on her canvas paintings come to translate moments of human touch and sensation to create an epiphany: the courtyard of contact.
